KARLI ROSE KELL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND, INC.

 

Counting all the kids who have received financial assistance for lessons, camp tuitions, our support of special program, and kazoos distributed to area 5th grade students each year, we have touched the lives of over 7,000 Quad Cities area youth since the fund’s inception. 

 

We utilize an all-volunteer Board of Directors (10 total), and a volunteer event staff for Moondance of an additional 15-20 people each year (including entertainers and performers).  We have raised an average of $6,500 per year (based on the last four years of annual Moondance events), and our most successful annual fundraiser was this past October (2014), through which we raised over $9,600 in cash donations to benefit Karli’s fund. 

 

As of Dec. 8, 2014, $73,340.54 has been raised in Karli’s memory since her passing in 2002. 

 

What we believe sets the Karli Rose Kell Music Scholarship Fund, Inc. apart from other charitable organizations in the area is that virtually all money raised goes towards financial assistance to area youth in need, as well as to select special program sponsorship support, and we rarely use any of the money raised for expenses in conjunction with our annual Moondance fundraising events.  None of our board members are compensated, venues host our events gratis, we do not pay any staffing, catering or event production fees.  Distribution of funds is limited to students participating in programs produced and coordinated by River Music Experience (RME), whether conducted at the RME or as an RME outreach program in the community.
